The following is a list of publications currently accepting submissions. We will provide you with a new list at the beginning of every month. Each entry will denote the genre, deadline, and a link to more information about that particular publication. If you end up submitting, or being published in any of these, please let us know so we can send you good vibes, or feature you! Happy writing!

The Black River Chapbook Competition. Black Lawrence Press is an independent publisher of contemporary poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

“Twice each year Black Lawrence Press will run the Black River Chapbook Competition for an unpublished chapbook of poems or short fiction between 16-36 pages in length.”

Ecotone. The literary magazine dedicated to reimagining place.

“For Ecotone‘s fall 2016 issue, Country and City, we invite writing that explores rural and urban spaces, and the places between them. Where do you find your wild—or wildish—places? What does it mean to be local to either, or to both? We welcome submissions of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction that explore how our notions of place might change based on where we live.”

Exposition Review. An annual, independent literary journal dedicated to publishing narratives by new, emerging, and established writers in multiple genres and forms.

“The timeline of our lives is littered with rifts, whether they are rifts in friendships, family, or loyalties to ourselves. There are some places where we’re internally severed and filled with fault lines, warnings of a greater shift to come. We’re also filled with blame and regret and remorse, feelings we reflect in the most tenuous of moments–moments that make us hold our breath, afraid of our delicate internal cracks. But these are the moments that hold the best stories.”
